A data physicalisation project presented as a collection of essays on female literacy.Investing in girls’ education transforms communities, countries and the entire world. Girls’ education strengthens economies and reduces inequality. It contributes to more stable, resilient societies that give all individuals the opportunity to fulfil their potential. Over 30 million females worldwide aged 15-24 are illiterate.Each page of the book represents 300.000 females. The black pages indicate each 10 million interval. The binding on the top right-hand side of the book is bound with 8 holes/wires, representing the 8% females that are illiterate around the world (ages 15-24, 2018).
